It seems like every week we hear about another tragic event in the world rather it be a bombing, a police shooting, a mass shooting, or a terrorist attack it’s disheartening and sickening. I keep wondering when the violence and heartache will end?
I try to keep my life lighthearted especially on social media and my blog, but I follow current events, I’m fairly passionate about politics, and I listen to NPR on the regular. I debated sharing my thoughts about all the violence but these past few months I’ve sat in silence feeling sad for the families and disturbed on how this can continue happening. I wish I had the answers, but all I can do is hope we continue to unite and not let these events tear us apart.
I don’t understand where all the hate comes from or why people want to harm each other? Life is short, and it’s unfortunate some would rather spend their time on earth filled with hate and violence instead of love and happiness.
I wonder what the tipping point will be, where everyone will be fed up with violence and do something to change it. I’m not sure how change can take place because too much money is tied to the sale of weapons, there is a lot of religious hate, and sadly it seems racism is alive and kicking more than ever in the United States.
We’ve all heard it recently, but it’s true we need more love in the world, more understanding, less criticism, and less hatred. I don’t know if it can be done but for societies sake, my daughter’s sake, and for every person who has lost someone due to a senseless act, I hope we can come together and spark a change our world so desperately needs right now.
One of my all time favorite songs is a throwback Black Eyed Pea’s featuring Justin Timberlake song called “Where is the love?” In 2003, the song seemed relevant but turns out in 2016 we are still trying to figure out where the love is. The song has a powerful message, and I hope we find love, peace, and happiness across the world sooner than later.
