This week I’ll be introducing you to a delicious frozen meal that will have you craving orange chicken on a regular basis. Yup, you heard me right, I’m sharing a frozen meal with you this week. I know it may sound ridiculous but hear me out on this.
Let me start by saying; I do not typically buy frozen meals, especially chicken. However, I have one exception to the rule, and it’s Trader Joe’s Orange Chicken. I’m not entirely sure where I heard about their chicken, but I’ve been a fan of it for years. Is it healthy? Probably not but it’s perfect for those nights when you’ve had a long day at work, the kids are acting crazy, you’re exhausted, and you want to eat out, but it’s not in the budget.
Trader Joe’s Mandarin Orange Chicken is easy to make. All you do is set the stove to 400 degrees, place the chicken on a cookie sheet, bake for 20 minutes, add the sauce, and enjoy. Plus, a bag currently costs $4.99.
Since there is not a Trader Joe’s near me I’ve tried finding alternatives and have tried various brands but they, don’t stack up. While it’s no Panda Express Orange Chicken, it’s pretty delicious. I’ve also tried making my own orange chicken, and it’s time-consuming, and it taste fine but I like crispy chicken, and I haven’t figured out how to get crispy chicken without deep frying my food.
This meal is easy to make it’s among my favorites. I like to pair the meal with rice and peppers to make it a complete meal. For me to eat frozen food it has to taste good and Trader Joe’s Mandarin Chicken fits my criteria since the sauce makes the meal for me with its bursting orange flavor. My daughter is a picky eater, and she loves this meal as well.
If you are short on time, love Chinese food, or would prefer a cheap meal, then you have to try Trader Joe’s Mandarin Orange Chicken. The only downside is I never buy enough!
