Each Summer, the Phoenix Zoo, offers visitors a chance to visit the zoo at night for what they call Prowl and Play. It’s a great night the whole family can enjoy with animals and entertainment!
This Summer I created a Bucket List of things for my daughter and I to do in the hot Arizona heat. So far, we’ve attended a movie in the park, and we recently visited the Phoenix Zoo at night.
The Phoenix Zoo is unique since it closes at 2 pm in the Summer due to the heat. I honestly cannot imagine being at the zoo when it’s 110 degrees but to each their own.
A few times during the Summer the zoo has Prowl and Play, which runs from 5:30-8:30 pm. It’s one of my favorite things to do during the Summer with my daughter since it’s at night. They also make the zoo fun with water-related events, activities, and live entertainment. I’ve taken her a few times now, and we’ve had a blast each time.
When we attended they had waterslides, a DJ, story time with a mermaid, and two splash pads for kids to play with. We got there around 7 and were able to see some of the animals before they went to bed. Although it was hot, there were a lot of kids, and the animals were pretty active which my daughter loved.
We shared some great memories together such as dancing to music, seeing baby rabbits throughout the zoo, swooning over the baby orangutang, laughing at the squirrel monkeys, and indulging in my favorite Mexican treat, a churro! I may have left the zoo a sweaty mess, but it was worth it!
The cost to get into the Phoenix Prowl and Play is $8 General Admission or $6 if you have a membership, and children two and under are free. The next Prowl and Play event will be on Saturday, August 6th from 5:30- 8:30 and I’d highly suggest it if you’re in the Phoenix area. The theme is Pirate and Princesses, and you can see the lineup events by clicking here.
Here are some pictures of our fun night together! Unfortunately, once it got dark, my camera was no longer cooperating!
