The shocking lifestyle change my husband wants to make for our family!
Two weeks ago my husband rocked my world when he told me he wanted to make a lifestyle change.
First, let me backtrack. My husband and I have been together for 11 years and in the 11 years I’ve known him I’ve seen him make horrible life choices in regards to his diet. He loves Mountain Dew, Taco Bell, Ice Cream late at night, and hates to work out.
Through the years I’ve told him how unhealthy this lifestyle is and demanded him to change which didn’t go over well or spark change. Eventually, I quit bugging him, and it’s only once I stopped harassing him about his eating habits that he came to me and confessed he needed to make a change.
I wish I could take credit for helping him see the light, but I can’t. However, I’m forever thankful for Joe Rogan’s podcast where he discusses his lifestyle and eating habits. I’m not entirely sure what he says, about sugar, but it must be powerful.
Having a better understanding of my husband is an important part of this story. When we first met, Chad did not eat any fruits or vegetables ever! It was a huge step when I introduced him to spinach he started eating salads.
As I mentioned, he LOVES Mountain Dew, before quitting he was drinking up to four Mountain Dew’s a day and drinking them as late as 9 pm to get him through the night. He also would eat at Taco Bell at least once a week, and I would often catch him having ice cream at 10 pm. To me, he isn’t a regular person who has a little bit of a sugar addiction; he has a major sugar addiction. One can of mountain dew has 46.5 grams of sugar. On days he was drinking four cans, he was consuming 186 grams of sugar in soda alone.
We are slowly making the transition to an almost sugar-free life. We may have cheat days now and then, but the goal is to set healthy eating habits for our daughter. We’ve almost reached the one week mark since we started, and I’m so proud of Chad. In less than a week he’s gone without soda and had minimal sugar, and it’s paying off, he’s already lost six pounds, which is incredible.
Stay tuned as I continue to document our journey but more importantly, his journey since he is battling a massive sugar monster.
