How a Kenny Chesney Concert impacted my life and made me re-evaluate how I live my life.
I will probably mention this frequently, but I love music. In my opinion, nothing beats attending a concert, and I’ve been to a lot of concerts in my day. As I’ve gotten older, I tend to see the same bands whenever they come to town such as Dave Matthews Band, O.A.R, and any band featuring Andrew McMahon. My band “To-See” list has dwindled, and there are only a handful of bands I haven’t had the opportunity to see.
Last fall, when I learned Kenny Chesney was coming to concert, I knew I had to go. He was on my “To-See” list, and it was time to cross him off. My friend and I bought tickets and it’s the most I’ve paid to attend a concert. I had some guilt about the cost, but I felt I was getting my money’s worth since it was an all-star lineup with Old Dominion, Sam Hunt, and Miranda Lambert. First off, I want to be Miranda Lambert’s friend. She amused me; she is adorable, I love all her guitars, and I wanted her glitter boots. Also, Sam Hunt is dreamy; no wonder girls swoon over him.
The day of the concert I told my husband and I would never pay that much for a concert again. Then I saw Kenny play, and I can honestly say without hesitation I would pay $140.00 to see him again. There have not been many concerts where it’s made some impact on my life, and I know it sounds weird, but the show made me think about my life and what I want for my future. That night I realized I want aspects of Kenny Chesney’s life.
No, I don’t want to tour the world because I have an awful voice, and no one would pay to hear me sing, but I do want to live my life on the beach whenever I want. As he was performing, I kept thinking about how he can live the no shoes, no shirt, no problem policy whenever he wants, and I want that life! Well, I will keep my shirt on, but I want to drink a beer on the beach on a random Wednesday at 1:30 in the afternoon and not be retired or be on vacation from work!
I’m not sure at this point when it would happen, but I hate how my life revolves around my vacation time which is dictated by my employer and not me. A new goal is to have more control over my time and to find a way to live my life more like Kenny Chesney.
Otherwise, Kenny was fantastic, and I truly enjoyed every moment listening to him sing, and I loved how appreciative he was to the fans. He’s had an incredible career, and I feel fortunate I had the opportunity to see him.
