My daughter has a fisher price basketball hoop which goes from three feet up to six feet. Tonight, we moved it from three feet to four, and my husband, daughter and I had a “friendly” game of basketball. Well, it was anything but friendly because my competitive nature kicked in when it shouldn’t have.
I’m five foot tall, and my husband is over six feet, so the height difference alone meant I had no business being competitive. Then, my husband had my daughter defend me, and I accidently body checked her, and she fell to the ground. Instant mom guilt took over as I realized I took my kid out over a game of basketball.
The moral of the story is that I can’t be trusted to play basketball with my four-year-old since I can’t handle losing. Thankfully her injuries were minimal, and kisses cured her pain. I think we can all agree I won’t be winning the mom of the year award anytime soon!
